8. | George Martin Presnell was born in 1828 in North Carolina, USA (son of William Ainsley Presnell and Jane "Jennie" Watkins); died on 30 Sep 1888 in Robberson,Greene County, Missouri. Notes: George Martin Presnell enlisted in Wood's Regiment, 14th Missouri Cavalry Battalion on 15 March 1863 at Carroll County, Arkansas by Captain Bray. This unit was originally designated the 14th Mo Cavalry Battalion. Later as the unit was increased to regimental size, it was redesignated as the 13th Mo Cavalry Regiment. It is also known as "Wood's Partisan Rangers," and was commanded by Col. Robert C. Wood. It served primarily as an "unattached" or independent unit, although it was assigned to Marmaduke's Cavalry Division. It saw action in the following battles: Pine Bluff, Ark. (Oct. 25, 1863), Jenkins' Ferry (April 30, 1864) and in the numerous engagements of Price's 1864 Missouri raid. The Regiment surrendered at Shreveport, LA and was paroled in June 1865. At the time of its surrender it was part of the 1st Missouri Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Trans-Mississippi Department. George married Mary Ann Pratt about 1860.
