Mr. Charles P. Presnell, 87, of 861 Presnell School Road, Banner Elk, died Saturday morning, Nov. 1, 2003, at his home.
He was born May 1, 1916, a son of the late John and Cora Presnell.
Mr. Presnell was an Army veteran serving in World War II and a member of Beech Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Retia Presnell and husband, James, and one son, Michael Presnell, all of Banner Elk; and one sister, Mrs. Thelma Ward of Deep Gap. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Presnell; one grandson, Calvin Rominger; his father and mother, John and Cora Presnell; and three brothers, Nathan, Clark and Clate Presnell.
Services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Beech Valley Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Warren. Military graveside rites and burial will follow in the Presnell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1-2 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.
Hampton Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Charlie married Vergie May Presnell on 17 Nov 1945 in Carter, Tennessee. Vergie (daughter of Loyed Hoover Presnell and Idar Caroline Presnell, daughter of Lloyd Hoover Presnell and Ida Caroline Presnell) was born on 19 Aug 1929 in Watauga County, North Carolina; died on 8 Apr 2000 in Boone, Watauga County, North Carolina; was buried in Watauga County, North Carolina, USA.
